The Book Club Salida — A New Downtown Gathering Spot for Book Lovers
There's a new spot in downtown Salida worth knowing about — and if you've ever wished this town had a dedicated bookstore, your wish just came true.
The Book Club Salida opened recently at 129 W Sackett Street, and it's already exactly what you'd hope a community bookstore would be. New and used books, a patio space, author visits, book club memberships, kids' programming, and locals' specials. Open Thursday through Sunday, 11am to 5pm.
It was founded by Samantha Bahn and Deb Bass O'Brien — both longtime Salida educators who've been teaching at The Crest Academy for over 15 years. That background shows in how they've thought about the space. This isn't just a place to buy books. It's a place built around conversation, connection, and literacy — the kind of community gathering spot that makes a small town feel even more like home.
If you haven't stopped in yet, it's worth a visit. And if you're new to Salida or thinking about making a move here, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes this community what it is.
Find them at 129 W Sackett Street, downtown Salida. Hours: Thursday–Sunday, 11am–5pm. More at bookclubsalida.com.
