Tale of the Sale - A Holiday Giveaway That Came Full Circle on County Road 190
Some sales begin in predictable ways. This one didn’t.
A few years back, I hosted a Christmas giveaway. Nothing fancy — just a way to give back and have some fun with the community. One of the winners reached out afterward and said something that stuck with me: “When we sell our home someday, we’re calling you.”
Fast forward to this year. My phone rings, and it’s her. They were preparing to list their home on more than five acres just outside Salida. They were interviewing two agents — and even though her husband had a strong relationship with the other agent, she insisted they bring me in as well. After talking through the strategy, they chose to work with me.
It was a beautiful property, full of potential, but its construction year made financing challenging. That meant fewer qualified buyers and a longer timeline than any of us expected.
But long timelines have a funny way of creating space — space for conversations, collaboration, and connection.
Over the months of navigating lending hurdles, showings, and strategy shifts, one of the sellers and I became genuinely close. We checked in often, shared updates, and kept each other moving forward. It was one of those relationships that reminds you why people matter more than anything else in this work.
And then, finally, everything clicked. A buyer who loved the land. Financing that aligned. A closing that felt well-earned.
The sellers were relieved and happy. The new owners were excited to begin their next chapter. And I couldn’t help but think back to that Christmas giveaway — and how a small interaction years ago came full circle in the best way.
Every sale has a story. This one just had an unexpected beginning.
