Tale of the Sale: The Pickleball Connection
Sometimes the best deals happen before the sign ever goes in the yard.
I'd been working with these buyers for a while — not actively touring homes, but staying in touch. They had reached out some time ago and said, "Hey, we're just putting feelers out there. Here's what we're looking for — if something comes up, let us know." So I kept them in the back of my mind and kept my ears open.
Then one morning on the pickleball court, a friend I play with regularly pulled me aside and mentioned she was planning to list her house the following week. "Let me know if you know anyone looking," she said.
I asked where she lived.
2 Trailside Circle.
I told her right then and there — I have buyers for you.
There was one wrinkle: she already had a listing agent. So I did what you do — I got her agent's name, called her directly, and we set up a time for my buyers to get in and see the home before it went public. We toured it, loved it, and submitted an offer.
The buyers were thrilled. They'd been hoping to get into that subdivision for a long time, and they were able to do it without ever competing on the open market. The seller was equally happy — she got her home under contract before the listing even launched, which in this market is no small thing.
After we closed, my seller friend laughed and said, "Darn, I probably could have sold it myself." And honestly? She might have been right. But having a buyer already in your back pocket — and someone who knew to make the connection — made the whole thing seamless for everyone.
That's what community does. You show up, you stay connected, you pay attention. And sometimes the right deal is waiting for you right across the net.
And the story doesn't end there — I'll be listing my buyers' current home next week. Win, win, win.
