Basecamp Bakehouse: Fresh Bread and Easy Mornings on F Street

If you've walked down F Street with a coffee in hand, there's a good chance it came from Basecamp Bakehouse & Market. It sits just down the block from my office at 124 F Street, and it has quietly become one of those places that makes a Salida morning feel easy.

Basecamp calls what they do "food that fits the rhythm of modern life," and that's a pretty good description. You can grab something fast on your way to the river or the trail, or slow down and stay a while. Either way, you're getting food that's made with care.

It all starts with the bread
Basecamp has its roots as an artisan bakery, and it shows. Their breads are baked in-house every day with high-quality flour, and that bread is the backbone of the whole menu.

Mornings bring breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwiches and donuts. After 11, the lineup shifts to hot and cold sandwiches on that house-made bread, fresh soups and a salad and pasta bar. It's hearty, it's quick and it's really good.

Why it's worth the stop
Places like Basecamp are a big part of what makes downtown Salida feel like a neighborhood. It's where you run into friends, fuel up before a busy day and pick up lunch without settling for something bland.

Find Basecamp Bakehouse & Market at 124 F Street, open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop in, grab a loaf for the week and tell them Janine sent you.
